Often people get into a home business but don't necessarily have a lot of start-up cash to advertise their product. Well, believe it or not, there's actually a great way to get the word out that doesn't have to cost a cent: you can write articles!

"Now wait," you say; "I don't have any experience in such things. This sounds way too hard already." My answer to you is that on many of the sites where you can do this writing, there are resources to help you get started. Ezine Articles is one of them; it has a great course they send right to your e-mail address. Squidoo has an extensive teaching area right on their site, including input from their more successful contributors. If you were to make use of these assets, you could be well on your way to achieving your business goals in no time.

"But then, what do I write about?" There are so many things to tell others about your item. Tell them what attracted you to your product in the first place. Tell them why you like it. Explain how they will benefit from having it. Take specific details about your product and enlarge on them. And then, you don't necessarily have to write about your product. You could branch out and tell people about your own personal interests outside of your business. Give a more well-rounded picture of you as a person; if you include such articles along with articles about your business, you will give others a better impression of you and they will be more apt to take advantage of the opportunities you have.

When you write, don't be concerned about sounding professional. Write as if you were talking to a good friend; be neighborly, as it were, and even excited about your product. People are more likely to purchase from a person who they're familiar with, and if you write as if you're acquainted with them, and you come across with an animated tone, you raise the chances that they will feel comfortable with purchasing your item.

There are many places where you can write your articles. I've already named a couple, but other sites include Go Articles, Article Alley, Wordpress,
and of course, this site, Article Shed. Get started on Squidoo and Ezine Articles, build a good library there, and branch out. Before you know it, the search engines will be doing their part to help you advertise, and you will have an ongoing resource to get the word out about your product--and all for free!
