It’s sad but true. 95% or more of all small businesses fail. The number is probably even higher for online ventures because so many people have dreams of working at home, but they never take the right action to put anything into motion.
Here’s a recipe of how to fail with an online income system:
1. Fall for the scam that pops up in a window or shows up in email saying you can make $36,000 (or whatever outlandish amount) in the next 30 days if you just buy this one program (and don’t forget the 6 bonuses) for $197 (reduced from $597). Oh, and by the way, Today Only -- we’ll do it all for you if you upgrade for just an additional $79.
Get real. No one has turned less than $300 into $36,000 starting from where you are. Oh sure, best-selling author and speaker Robert Allen was on a national television show and was challenged to make $60,000 on the internet in 24 hours and he made $92,000. But he already had name recognition, a television audience, an established buyers list, thousands of email addresses in a database, and systems in place.
If you buy the upgraded system and believe someone else is going to set up your website, send you loads of traffic, and you’re going spend less than 15 minutes a day placing free ads and your PayPal account will grow fat overnight, you will fail. Building an online income takes time and effort. Get rich quick often means never get rich.
2. Act as if you are at a smorgasbord and buy two of everything out there. One day, you’re purchasing a Multi-Level Marketing program, the next you are Clickbank-affiliate bound, the next you are pushing products on Ebay, then that foreign currency exchange program catches your eye. Lack of focus is often a reason for failure.
3. Spend money you can’t afford. You will fail if you overspend.
4. Buy a book, program, or software package and do nothing with it. A guaranteed way to fail with an online income system is to do nothing.
So how can you avoid failure and make sure you are in the 5% who succeed? It’s simple, really. First of all, research the types of online income systems that are out there and decide what type of program would work best for you before you spend a dime. For me, the program that met all my criteria was Kimberley Hoffman’s
My Online Income System. I wanted something affiliate-based, inexpensive, learning-based, focused on free or low-cost advertising techniques, provided a step-by-step plan, and got solid good reviews in multiple forums. Once you choose a program, learn it thoroughly, and follow the plan. Set a budget. Nothing is ever completely free, but it can certainly be low-cost.
But most importantly, take action. Action is often the difference between success and failure.
